REC Primary students have truly embraced various formats of rugby over the past year, showcasing their enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship across multiple events.
After successfully progressing to the West Beach competition, our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork and resilience in tackle rugby, securing victories in all but two games. The competition itself focused on participation and upholding its core values, and our students excelled in these areas. Their fairness, respect and positive attitude stood out, again earning them the Respect Trophy as a testament to their sportsmanship.
A week later, the school participated in a tag rugby carnival, with both girls’ and boys’ teams taking the field. For many of the girls, this marked their first experience with tag rugby. While the initial games presented a steep learning curve as they adjusted to the rules and dynamics of the game, their growth was remarkable. By the later matches, the team had found their rhythm, delivering strong performances fuelled by enthusiasm and determination.
The boys’ team, benefiting from earlier rugby experiences, entered the carnival with a solid foundation. Their prior participation in the after-school rugby clinic and school teams was evident in their impressive results. Beyond their on-field successes, their cohesion and teamwork were particularly commendable, showcasing the essence of team rugby in every game.
All Reynella East Primary teams have represented their school with pride, spirit and sportsmanship.
